Leagoo Z5L is one of the newest products released by the Chinese company – Leagoo (May 2016). We have been putting this mobile device to the test and we can already tell you that this is a  good device (with a few flaws) and certainly a great value for its price. Continue reading in order to find more specifications and our sincere thoughts about it.

PARAMETERS

Firstly, we will give some of the most important technical information about the Leagoo Z5. The weight of this device is 148 gramms (very average for a 2016 mobile device) and it is 144 mm long, 71.8 mm wide and 8.9 mm thick (once again – pretty average). The phone feels very good in the hand and there are certainly no problems with using it. The device comes in four stunning colours: Titanium Grey (the one that we have), Galaxy White, Rose Gold and Champagne Gold. It is a very slim and stylish device which would be suitable for anyone and everyone could find a color they like.
Leagoo Z5 has three buttons on the right side (Volume Up, Volume Down and Power) and altough there is no Home button per say, there is a touch Home button which is very useful (there are quite a lot of device on the market without built-in home buttons which definitely complicates the use).

SCREEN

This newly released device comes with the 5 inch screen and the resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. That gives us the density of 196 pixels per inch. We must say that both resolution and density are quite low and disappointing compared to some other devices of this company (in Elite 1 – density 481 PPI, in Alfa 2 – density 294 PPI). However, we must still remember that the price of Leagoo Z5 is extremely low (less then 50$) and for that price it would be very difficult to find something better. So once again, the quality is higher than the price would suggest.

CAMERA

Unfortunately, here is another big flaw which we hope will be improved with the next model. This device comes with 5 MP camera with flashlight back (dual LED flash) and 2 MP front selfie camera. Additional features include: geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, autofocus, flashlight and more. Using your smartphone instead of your camera has become so popular that these days hardly anyone takes their big, heavy camera to take photos on holidays or some events. That is why the rear camera should be ideally over 10MP (or at least 8MP). This one has only 5MP and although in good weather conditions and good lighting it takes very nice pictures, when there are problematic conditions to take a photo it does not do very well – certainly not as an average device released in 2016. Once again – the price of this device does not “allow” it to be any better – it is very good for this price (probably one of the best in this price range).

HARDWARDE & SOFTWARE

The Leagoo Z5L runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with Leagoo 2.0 OS on top. Always great to have and Android device so we are very pleased with the Leagoo Z5’s operating system (as should you – no problems with any apps whatsoever). It is powered by a MediaTek MT6580M quad-core clocking 1.3GHz aided by 1GB RAM. This is another thing we hope will some day be changed – 1GB nowadays is definitely too little for RAM. Despite that, the device works well and most of the games we have tried worked just fine. The internal storage is 8GB which could be extended up to 128 GB. Although the built-in memory storage could be a little higher – that is not a flaw when we have the possibility of extension up to 128GB! That is very good and certainly useful for everyone.

BATTERY LIFE

This device is packed with 2300mAh battery (the producer claims that the standby time is 360 hours, usage time up to 12 hours and video playback time up to 8 hours). This is actually a little less than in an average smartphone released in 2016 (ideally 2600 mAh would be enough). We have not tested all of the parameters the producer promised, but we can certainly say that this device could be used the whole day without charging. Nowadays with the LTE and the games and all the power consuming apps – it is quite enough. It that is not OK for you, we would recommend investing in a high capacity power bank. CONNECTIVITY

The networks which are supported are 2G and 3G and what is worth to notice 4G network! The 4G is around five times faster than existing 3G services and 4G LTE aims to offer users more reliable mobile broadband internet for devices like ZTE LTE. So loosely speaking it makes this phone more competitive in the market of economic smartphones.The WIFI and the new generation Bluetooth work great and we have no complaints here.

TELEPHONE & CALL QUALITY

As it comes to the phone app we must say that is really perfectly organized, making it easy to use. Only three icons are situated in the upper bar: SPEED DIAL, RECENT and  Contacts. The blue keypad in the “Telephone” tab is also hard to miss. We did not have problems with interruptions or background noise when making calls using the Leagoo Z5. Voices thankfully have a lot of substance through the earpiece, clean and without any distortion.

PACKAGING

The device comes in a esthetic red box. We can find here the standard accessories:

•         Headphones (There are good everyday earphones offering good quality sound),

SUMMARY

After having tested it, we can say that this device is not for everyone. If you are on a budget, without hesitation we can recommend the Leagoo Z5 for you. It is great value for the price (less than 50$) and for the same price you probably will not be able to find anything better. However, if you are more into mobile devices and you want a smartphone which has more functions and a better camera – we suggest checking out other Leagoo devices, like Elite 1 (you can find the review here) or Alfa 2 (you can find the review here). There are more expensive but still have very good prices for better quality.
